September 10 is our departure date! Zach and I will fly across the Atlantic, and will wander around for some time, trying to find Moldova. Zach's father, Warren Kmiec, is in Moldova now, serving as a Peace Corps volunteer.
Here is a photo of Warren with Zach, taken at the airport in Madison, Wisconsin, on the day Warren flew off to Europe in June of 2012.
Zach began his journey this past weekend, traveling via AMTRAK from New Orleans to Chicago. I picked up Zach at Union Station on Labor Day morning. We joined our friend, Sigrid, at the Field Museum of Natural History to check out their exhibit of the cave paintings of Lascaux, France. Here they are — not the cave paintings, but Zach and Sigrid!
Next blog posting will probably not appear until September 10 or 11. Between now and then, we'll be getting ready!

They have the cave paintings on display? Oh, to be off to Chicago! Admittedly, not as riveting as a trip to Moldova, but still, to be off and traveling!
ReplyDeleteI am so looking forward to your posts. All of them, from all places! With countless details, photos, stories. Let the trip begin!
